Open urban space and landscape architecture: searching for new solutions
The main objective of this international scientific conference is to raise the attention and awareness among landscape architects, city administrations and other appropriate stakeholders, as well as researchers about design, planning and social aspects of different open urban spaces. St. Petersburg is especially known for its historic landscapes as well as new solutions in new neighborhoods and post-industrial landscapes. This year conference suggests a new format with one day of conference presentations and a day of technical excursions.
There will be 2 subthemes during the conference:
- Urban open spaces in historic cities: searching for innovative solutions
- Urban spaces in modern cities: design, planning, social and ecological aspects
Time and Place: 8-9 June 2016, St. Petersburg
Preliminary Programme (final program will be set in April 2016)
7 June: Pre-conference tour and international students ECLAS seminar
8 June: Conference Day in St. Petersburg: first part of the day-conference opening and presentations; second part-conference excursion
9 June: Technical excursions in St. Petersburg
10 June: Post conference tour to Valaam Island in Ladoga Lake (optional, special arrangement with a boat can be provided). THE COST OF VALAAM TRIP is not included in the conference fee.

Call for Abstracts
Participants are invited to submit abstracts related to themes as announced above.
Preparation of Abstracts
Abstracts are required for all presentations, including posters.
The abstract should comprise three parts (Title, Authors (including name of organisation, mailing address and email), and Abstract), maximum 500 words (Times New Roman, 12 pt and left adjusted).
The due date for abstracts is the 1st of March 2016.
Conference proceedings based on abstracts (which will go through a double-blind review process) will be published in English.
Excursions and cultural programme:
Visits to historic, industrial and natural landscapes are part of the technical tours of the conference. Optional pre-conference St. Petersburg sightseeing (e.g. the Hermitage and Russian Museum, other Museums and Historic Parks) are offered as well.
