IFLA has opened the call for nominations for the IFLA 2018-2020 Elections.
The following information is the first stage of the IFLA voting procedures for the 2018 World Level elections for:
· IFLA President
· IFLA Treasurer
· IFLA Standing Committee Chair on Communications and External Relations (CER)
· IFLA Standing Committee Chair on Education and Academic Affairs (EAA)
· IFLA Standing Committee Chair on Professional Practice and Policy (PPP)
The call for nominations started on Monday, 21 January 2018 and is due on Wednesday, 28 February 2018 at 19.00 (Brussels Time, Central European Time Zone).
In accordance with IFLA’s Constitution, Section 5, and the By-Laws and Rules of Procedures, Section 4, an election is to be held for the above offices for the period beginning immediately after the World Council Meeting 2018 and ending immediately after the World Council Meeting 2020, with exception of IFLA Treasurer whose office will start on 1 of January 2019 and end on 31 December 2021.
Delegates, past delegates, IFLA officers, regional, national officers, and committee chairs shall all be eligible to hold office of the President and the Treasurer in IFLA at the world level after personally attending two World Council meetings during the six-year period prior to nomination (World Councils between 2017-2012). All must have personally attended as Delegate or observer at least the equivalent of one full day of a World Council Meeting to be listed as an attendee for eligibility purposed.
IFLA Delegates or IFLA ExCo Officers may submit up to two nominations for each office and before doing this you should consult with and consider the views of your association and former delegates. Please, note that no candidate may stand for two world offices at the same time. Nominees must select only one office, if nominated for more than one.
Each Delegate or ExCo Officer making a nomination must first secure written consent from the nominee that, if nominated, will agree to stand for such office. The written consent form must be submitted by the Delegate or ExCo Officer making a nomination along with the signed nomination form as well as a maximum of 500-word written manifesto, a current brief biography, and a passport photo of the nominee.
Nomination Form, Written Consent Form, 500-word manifesto, brief biography, and passport photo must be submitted to IFLA Executive Secretary Sally Robertshaw via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Wednesday, 28 February 2018 by 19.00 (Brussels Time). Nominations submitted after the due date or submitted uncompleted will be considered invalid.
After the call for nominations closes down, a validated list of nominees will be circulated to IFLA membership by 9 March 2018. The eligible nominees will transit to the second stage of the elections, which will happen in the form of electronic voting for 30 days, from 16 March to 16 April 2018. Further instructions will be provided by 9 March 2018.
