The Australian Institute of Landscape Architecture (AILA) has launched a new category of membership as it looks to establish the next phase of growth.
The new structure has been established to cater for a group of people that AILA does not currently have an offering for.
The announcement comes following the completion of the National Membership Committee’s review on categories, which included member consultation in January and February 2018. The second element of the review will focus on the registration process which is expected to continue into 2019.
Titled ‘Member’, this new category of membership will service Landscape Architects who no longer qualify for one of the graduate categories and might not immediately be progressing to the Registered Landscape Architect category. The category is also ideal for local government, academics and international landscape architects who may not have a need to move to become a Registered Landscape Architect because of their line of work or circumstances.
An updated AILA Membership Policy has been ratified by the AILA Board and outlines the different categories of membership in more detail. People looking to join the new category can do so by clicking here.
Registered Landscape Architect remains the primary offering of AILA membership and the advocacy efforts of the Institute will continue to support the profile anrigour of this category.
As with all AILA’s programs, members are the greatest advocate for the organisation and we need the help of members to spread the word on the new membership category. Existing members are encouraged to share the information about the new offering with academics, public employees or international colleagues who have not joined AILA because they didn’t have an express need in becoming a Registered Landscape Architect.
The announcement of the new category coincides with the opening of the 2018/19 membership year. AILA members can now re-join AILA for 2018/19 financial year. Access the Member Benefits Guide and explore what the AILA membership offers in 2018/19.
