Graham Young

Graham is a registered landscape architect with interest and experience in landscape architecture, urban design and environmental planning. He holds a degree in landscape architecture from the University of Toronto (1978) and has practiced in Canada and Africa where he has spent most of his working life.
During his 35 years plus career he has received many Institute of Landscape Architects of South Africa (ILASA) and other industry design awards. He has written widely on landscape architectural issues and has had projects published both locally and internationally in design journals and books. He is currently runs his own practice as well as being a senior lecturer, teaching landscape architecture and urban design at post and under graduate levels at the University of Pretoria. He sits on the IFLA Africa EXCO and is its secretary.
Graham has been a visiting studio critic at the University of Witwatersrand and University of Cape Town. In 2011 he was invited to the University of Rhode Island, USA as their Distinguished International Scholar. A ‘niche’ speciality is Visual Impact Assessments for which he has been cited with an ILASA Merit Award.
