Liana Jansen

Liana Jansen is a registered professional Landscape Architect and accredited Professional Heritage Practitioner with fifteen years of experience in the design, planning and conservation of landscapes. She acted as a lecturer and Programme Convenor at both the University of Pretoria and University of Cape Town Landscape Architecture and Architecture programmes. Attaining a Masters degree in Anthropology enabled her to gain skills in understanding various cultures and their relationship with landscapes. She is actively involved in the heritage field, completing heritage audits, management plans and designs for cultural landscapes across Southern Africa and internationally. Her research and publications revolve around cultural landscapes, specifically focussing on people’s present and past connection with the environment. Liana is an Executive Committee member and Vice-President Africa for the International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes (ISCCL) of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS/IFLA).

Liana Jansen is ‘n geregistreerde professionele Landskapsargitek en ‘n geakkrediteerde Professionele Erfeniskonsultant met vyftien jaar ervaring in die ontwerp, beplanning en bewaring van landskappe. Sy was ‘n dosent en programkoördineerder in beide die Universiteit van Pretoria en die Universiteit van Kaapstad se Landskapargitektuur en Argitektuur Departemente. ‘n Meestersgraad in Antropologie het haar die vermoeë gegee om verskeie kulture en hul verhouding met die landskap te kan verstaan. Sy is aktief betrokke in die erfenisveld, waar sy erfenisoudits, bestuursplanne en ontwerpe vir kulturele landskappe dwarsoor Suid Afrika en ook internasionaal voltooi. Haar navorsing behels hoofsaaklik kulturele landskappe en die geskiedkundige en huidige verhouding tussen mense en hul omgewing. Liana is deel van die bestuurskommittee en Visepresident Afrika vir die Internasionale Wetenskaplike Kommittee vir Kulturele Landskappe (ISCCL) van die Internasionale Kommittee vir Monumente en terreine (ICOMOS/IFLA).
