Christian Tschumi

Christian Tschumi grew up in Zurich and became a licensed landscape gardener in 1988. He received his first degree in landscape architecture from the Hochschule Rapperswil in 1993. In 1997 he pursued a master’s degree in landscape architecture at the Graduate School of Design, Harvard University, and later worked at Peter Walker and Partners in Berkeley. In April 2000 he moved to Kyoto, Japan, and started research on the modernization of the Japanese garden. Christian Tschumi was a fellow at Dumbarton Oaks in 2004/05. Upon his return to Switzerland he served as the principal of Metron Landschaft AG until 2011. Then in 2012 he founded TSCHUMI Landschaftsarchitektur in Zurich and works since on urban and suburban landscapes and gardens.
